Wimbledon, the most widely known tennis tournament in the world, begins qualifying action today (June 25th) and runs through July 15th. Even if you aren't a tennis fan, you can still cash in on this event by hosting unique and easy-to-run Ping Pong events at your bar.
Never hosted a ping pong tournament before? Well, this is the perfect time of year to roll it out! The best thing about this tournament is that it’s super easy to put on.
Here’s the equipment you’ll need:
Portable Table Tennis Tops (if you don’t already have ping pong tables)
Ping Pong Paddles
Half-dozen ping pong balls
A tournament bracket and someone to keep score
To make sure there’s no confusion, you can tell your customers that you're playing by USA Table Tennis’ rules (yes, this is an actual thing). To keep things simple, just have customers Google the rules if they aren't familiar. At least they'll get a laugh out of it!
It would be best to go with single knockout tournaments. This means only winners move on to the next matchup. You can run this a few times a week or every night throughout Wimbledon - and, it goes without saying, but be sure to add some fun drink specials.
If you really want people to get into the spirit, host a costume contest. Best tennis outfit wins a prize! This can be a hilarious subplot to your event, especially for those less than talented when it comes to Ping Pong.
